Damsels.org interviewed Sam Mendes (the director) last week. "[It's been] a while since there was a classic … what I would call a classic Bond villain. I’m not saying these guys weren’t great. I thought Mads[Mikkelsen] was particularly good in Casino RoyaleBut I wanted somebody perhaps a bit more flamboyant, perhaps a bit more frightening, and so I felt like we needed a great actor to achieve that." Sam Mendes cast Javier Bardem as the films main antagonist; Raoul Silva, whom we know very little about. SKYFALL shoots in Scotland James Bond went back to his roots this week when the crew headed off to Scotland to shoot scenes in the shadow of the mountain Buachaille Etive Mor ('The great herdsman of etive when translated.) The Daily Mail who reported the shoot also said that Aston Martin DB5's were part of a car chase which took off throughout the A82. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were on set a little later in a location just an hours walk from the A82. Ben Collins was also on set driving an Aston Martin DB5 towards an old estate. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were later spotted at Glasgow airport heading back to London. The last time Scotland was used in a Bond film was during 'The World Is Not Enough' in 1999. The latest clapper-board photograph shows that they have been filming scene 137, which comes after the sequence we saw a few months ago with Daniel Craig in the DB5 in London. We believe that this scene has something to do with James Bond's heritage. In the Ian Fleming novels, James Bond's father lived in Scotland. _New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. Scenes on Turkish railway bridge During January and February 2012, the filmmakers of SkyFall will be shooting in Turkey on the Varda Railway Bridge in the Taurus Mountains. Daily Mail claims Miss Moneypenny is Eve The Daily Mail still claims that Naomi Harris will be playing Miss Moneypenny even though she has been confirmed as Eve. The paper claims that the character of Eve will become Miss Moneypenny in the future. "She starts as a field operative called Eve and then comes inside the organisation as Miss Moneypenny, M’s right-hand woman." Daniel Craig hinted to the press that Miss Moneypenny and Q will return. A few months ago we found out that Q will be returning but there is still no word on Moneypenny. If this is true, the character will most probably not be credited as Miss Moneypenny until Bond 24 if she is included in that film. Scottish location to be filmed in Wales? _New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. Ola Rapace on his scenes Ola Rapace has finally started discussing his involvement in SkyFall. "We have had great fun. Bond filming is like a playhouse, you can ride a motorcycle, fighting and shooting automatic weapons and things like that. So it's fun and has been really good." Rapace was rumoured to have a role in the movie until it was finally confirmed after the press conference. He still hasn't given us any clue as to what part he is playing in the film, but we assume that he will be playing a henchman of the films main villain played by Javier Bardem. Rapace is more used to television productions, so suddenly being a part of the largest and most recognised franchise in the world has shocked him. "Everything is bigger than I had thought, it's so much miscle, so much money, so many resources available anywhere. It's crazy really." He has said that his scenes have finished for now, but he will be returning in March to shoot some more scenes through May. Somehow, someone managed to snap a few shots. To see the images, take a look at the gallery at the end of this blog post. Helen McCrory is not playing Miss Moneypenny After Ben Whishaw was confirmed as Q, we automatically thought that Miss Moneypenny was also going to get a part, with Helen McCrory seeming like the perfect actress for the role. Noel Callagher denies Skyfall title song Last week it was rumoured that Noel Callagher would be writing the opening song for SkyFall. His blog states this: "Now, I don't know whether you've seen a story that's doing the rounds about me being offered the job of penning the tune for the new James Bond film? Apparently I'm being courted by "007 bosses"!!!!! A meeting will be "taking place in the next few days"!!!! With some guy called "Michael G. Wilson" (whoever he is)!!! A "source" says, "nothing has been signed or made official"!!!! Of course it f*****' hasn't!!!!!! Who IS this f*****' "source"? Has he been on the "sauce"? Bizarre indeed. Helen McCrory rumoured to play Miss Moneypenny Helen McCrory has been tied in with the cast of SkyFall since the press conference earlier this month. She has refused to reveal who her character is. "It's nice, I'm not Bond in Bond and I'm not Hugo in Hugo. I've got a four- and five-year-old and I'm not away for months, making melodramatic decisions about whether to be a mother or an actress." If she has a minor role in the film, perhaps she is fitted to play Miss Moneypenny. Naomi Harris interview "I did worry about it a bit, My agent said to me: `It's unlike anything else you have done before, just be prepared'. After the launch, my face was everywhere in the papers and on the news. I was worried. But, amazingly, I was still able to get on and off the bus and no one recognised me." "Eve kicks ass. I'm loving it at the moment. I am such a pacifist, I never thought I would enjoy firing guns but, in the safety of the gun range and at a target board, it's so much fun. I'm doing gyrotonics (a fluid training style that blends movements of yoga, dance, gymnastics, tai chi and swimming on a machine) twice a week and I have a yoga teacher three times a week who also takes me jogging." Ben Whishaw has been cast as Q The Quartermaster returns for the first time since the reboot of the series in 2006. This racecourse appeared in A View To A Kill in 1985, but this time, they will be using the location for something completely different. The crew have been filming at night to hide the racetrack. Filming in India cancelled It was recently confirmed by EON that Bond 23 will not be filmed in India, after the hassel they had trying to get permission to film there. "We'd given them all the permissions. They wanted to shoot in the Sabarmati yard and had asked to shoot on two gauges - broad gauge and meter gauge - and they wanted these for seven-hour stretches every day for seven days in a row, and we'd agreed. All had been worked out. They also wanted to shoot between Mumbai and Goa on the hero train, and wanted a special shot where a motorcycle from a bridge would jump on to a train, and the coach on which he'd jump needed to be re-enforced, and we agreed." "The matter was finalised by September 13. But a week later, we were informed that after an international discussion, the production team decided not to shoot in India. We've been very cooperative with them. We had ourselves hoped that the movie would be shot here," Instead of filming in India, the scenes will be moved to South Africa, which was a back-up for India. Filming is scheduled to begin there soon. Other confirmed locations include Istanbul and Pinewood Studios. Ebru Akel rejected as Bond villainess Ebru Akel is a Turkish actress who was going to acompany Daniel Craig in Bond 23. Ralph Fiennes was rumoured to play a dark role in the film, whereas Javier Bardem was said to be playing the main villain. Recently, Daniel Craig let slip that these two are likely to be in the new film. "I hope so, I hope so," "We've got a great script this time. I'm as excited about this script as I was about the 'Casino Royale' script. I think in Sam [Mendes] we've got the perfect director. The cast is coming together now. I can't wait to get going on it." With production starting soon, more and more roles will be confirmed. Istanbul scenes The producers of Bond 23 met with Tourist Minister Ertugrul Günay to secure the filming taking place in Istanbul this November. "The opening scenes are planned to be filmed in Istanbul, but some other places will also be used outside Istanbul for the film," "Such is the appeal of the series that many of the locations where Bond films have been filmed in the past have continued to attract Bond fans to visit many years down the line. The fact that the opening scene of the film will be made in Turkey will contribute to Turkish tourism. The ministry has been providing big support to the film sector for five years. We have made a concerted effort in the past five years to support the film sector and our aim continues to be to welcome international film crews to our country for filming," To celebrate 50 Years of James Bond, there taking the film back to one of the most loved places. In fact, I've spent a long time with Tom getting a very different look and he's been designing a new set of things [for the film]." "It's great that he's doing it. It's going to be a new kinda look. It's a new feel. I'm very excited about that. I'm very excited about the suits." "I'm really lucky to have a wardrobe with five or six beautiful suits done by Tom and some other people." For Bond 23, Louise Frogley will be replaced by Jany Temime, who has worked on the costumes for the Harry Potter films. Improvements from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace "Sam [Mendes] is a huge, huge Bond fan and has been all his life. He and I both said at the beginning to each other that the only thing we want to do is make the best James Bond movie we can. So therefore, we have to go back to what we know about the books, what we know about the movies and what we know about all of that... And improve upon it." "That's where we started off, and that's where we started with the script, and that's where we started from for the look and feel of it, the characters... It's how we're going to continue on the movie - doing the best that we can." Gallery
