(More updates below poster) Sam Mendes wants a real Bond villain
Damsels.org interviewed Sam Mendes (the director) last week. "[It's been] a while since there was a classic … what I would call a classic Bond villain. I’m not saying these guys weren’t great. I thought Mads[Mikkelsen] was particularly good in Casino RoyaleBut I wanted somebody perhaps a bit more flamboyant, perhaps a bit more frightening, and so I felt like we needed a great actor to achieve that." Sam Mendes cast Javier Bardem as the films main antagonist; Raoul Silva, whom we know very little about. Train Chase in Adana with Craig and Harris Now that the first unit and second unit team have met up in Adana, they have started to shoot the action-packed pre-title sequence. Daniel Craig was on the set with Naomi Harris. Craig was accompanied by his stunt double as some amazing stunts were performed on the roof of a train.

WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS Bond at BAFTAs Tom Jones opened the BAFTAs by performing his song Thunderball. He spoke of the time he was approached to do the song "I was so thrilled when John Barry and Don Black asked me to do 'Thunderball', because Shirley Bassey had just done 'Goldfinger' and Matt Munro had just done 'From Russia With Love'. It was great, especially then, because I was a young man in my 20s. I am glad I did it!" New Bond girls Naomi Harris and Berenice Marlohe attended the event too. Naomi Harris was interviewed about her time on the set. "It's amazing working with Daniel, he's such a hard worker. After shooting he does two hours of training. Incredible and an inspiration to us both." Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes were nominated for awards. Judi Dench was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in "My Week With Marilyn" and Ralph Fiennes was nominated for Outstanding Debut By A Director for his film "Coriolanus". Vauxhall bridge filming As planned, the crew were back in London this week shooting scenes with Judi Dench and Rory Kinnear. The scene appears to be taking place in the back of a Jaguar as M and Tanner drive back to MI6 Headquarters. The car was on a tow trailer with cameras rigged to the front windscreen. The shoot followed over to Sunday where they spent over 4 hours shooting with the road closed. {SPOILER} The action shot on the bridge will be seen at the beginning of the film, when M's car is blocked from getting close to the famous MI6 building by police. M and Tanner watch in horror as an explosion rocks the area. The fireball will be a digital effect, unlike The World Is Not Enough when the production built a large scale replica of the front of the building in order to blow a hole in it. {SPOILER} Stunt at Charing Cross A very impressive stunt took place inside Charing Cross station last week where a camera was used to film inbetween an escalator along the old Jubilee Line which has been closed from the public for a while. This scene is believed to be part of the foot chase sequence, where either Bond or Bardem's character slides down the moving stairs. |
