(More updates below poster) Sam Mendes wants a real Bond villain
Damsels.org interviewed Sam Mendes (the director) last week. "[It's been] a while since there was a classic … what I would call a classic Bond villain. I’m not saying these guys weren’t great. I thought Mads[Mikkelsen] was particularly good in Casino RoyaleBut I wanted somebody perhaps a bit more flamboyant, perhaps a bit more frightening, and so I felt like we needed a great actor to achieve that." Sam Mendes cast Javier Bardem as the films main antagonist; Raoul Silva, whom we know very little about. Train Chase in Adana with Craig and Harris Now that the first unit and second unit team have met up in Adana, they have started to shoot the action-packed pre-title sequence. Daniel Craig was on the set with Naomi Harris. Craig was accompanied by his stunt double as some amazing stunts were performed on the roof of a train.

New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. EMPIRE Magazine covers for SKYFALL The EMPIRE Magazine is releasing TWO SKYFALL covers for their magazine this month. One of which shows Daniel Craig as James Bond holding his Walther PPK in a pose that looks similar to Connery's. The second cover shows Daniel Craig as James Bond wearing a pinstripe suit with the caption 'Bond. Back In Business'. The magazine is said to take a look back at films including 1995's Goldeneye, 1973's Live & Let Die and 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Michael G Wilson holds press conference in Istanbul
Michael G Wilson, one of the two producers of the James Bond films, held a press conference last week to end a few rumours that have been going around since they started filming in Turkey. "We have previously shot in cultural places in many countries. We pay great attention to not cause any damage to such places, even before we came here we filmed at the National Gallery in London, and in all of the places, we've always come away with a good feeling and all of the people seemed to be happy to welcome us back. So, hopefully, we can maintain that feeling here in Istanbul and across Turkey," He commented on the motorcycle stunt that took place a few weeks ago which appeared to have shattered a window and damaged a building. "If you go back a week or two after we leave you'll find there is no building there at all. We built that entire building, but I have to say, I was up there today and I was convinced it was part of the site - but it was actually our own construction. Similarly, when you go back and look at the window that the motorcycle came through in the Grand Bazaar, you'll see that it's actually a very tall opening and we've made it smaller and put in a window - it's our own window [that was damaged during filming]. It's all part of us being illusionists. This is what the art of cinema is." He also said that some of the stunts haven't been very successful, and that a stunt man doubling for a villain did brake a shop window, but the crew have offered to pay for the damage but the owner hasn't accepted yet. Speculation has started about the crew damaging roof tiles on buildings as the motorcycles drive over them. Wilson said that the motorcycles are driving on platforms which cover the roof and all the real tiles were removed and replaced with prop tiles. One of the more rediculous rumours were put to rest too. Turkish newspapers were reporting that the SKYFALL filming was a cover-up to transport weapons to Syria. Michael Wilson said “If someone takes this claim seriously, the safety of the film team will be in danger. I want to underline it. This is extremely dangerous and false news. I advise the person who made this news to quit journalism and make a film in Hollywood, because he has a very good imagination.” “The reason why the film is being made in Turkey rather than any other country is that the natural environments here have not been used in any other big project before, as well as the promises given by relevant ministries.” Principal cast have arrived in Turkey Daniel Craig and Naomi Harris have arrived in Istanbul. Other cast are said to have arrived. Daniel Craig is said to be filming for 3 weeks whereas other cast members will be 5 weeks. Since then filming has started on a beach in Fethiye, where there was a team of over 1,000 people. The filming started here on 26th April and is said to have finished on 28th April. SKYFALL trailer has been revealed in Las Vegas Sony Pictures were reported to have shown attendants to the CinemaCon2012 event in Las Vegas last week. The trailer is said to be publically released on 25th May to tie in with the release of Men In Black III. Various parts of the trailer were leaked from some of the people who attended the event. According to the report by MI6-HQ, the following elements are to be shown in the trailer:

SKYFALL Motorbike stunt Before production was temporarily stopped by severe weather conditions, it has been reported that the SKYFALL team have been shooting a motorcycle stunt sequence in Istanbul across the roofs of buildings throughout the city. Towards the end of April, Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes will be shooting on location in the neighbourhoods of Istanbul, possibly Eminonu Square. At present, we understand they have been filming in Bankacilar Avenue, Aynacilar Street, Sultanhamam and the Grand Bazaar. Production is expected to finish in Turkey on 6th May. A turkish video sprung up during the week on DailyMotion showing two stunt men (one doubling for James Bond) shooting through the city on motorbikes. A media report shows footage of one of the stunt men standing by a shop with the window smashed. Whether this was part of the film or not is unknown as the media are already claiming that "the stuntman swerved to avoid hitting extras while careering through the Grand Bazaar at high speed" Producers quizzed on Adele for SKYFALL Theme As the cast and crew were being interviewed last week by the press, Barbara Broccoli was asked if they had considered Adele for the title song. "We haven’t picked a song yet or anyone to sing it," she said. Craig joked "How about Adele?", to which she replied "You know, she’s wonderful; we love her, so, it’ll be great if she would do it, but we haven’t got any -- we haven’t made any decision yet. Watch this space." New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS SKYFALL-Lodge's demise Filming in Scotland comes to an end as SKYFALL-Lodge is blown to the ground. It has been marked as the most expensive stunt in the James Bond series. All crew and cast move to Turkey to film the rest of the film. Shooting is expected to be completed by June. Take a look at the gallery below for images of the building as it explodes. Resurrecting an old stunt As the SKYFALL crew prepare to film the epic stunt sequence in Turkey, MI6-HQ reported that the stunt was originally written for Goldeneye 1995 starring Pierce Brosnan. According to the report, the stunt was removed at the last minute. Presumably, this was during the scene with Bond as he chases Trevelyan on the train. Some of the images in the gallery were scanned photographs of production sketches for Goldeneye; containing spoilers. As shooting began in Turkey, one of the stunt trains derailed and could have gone over the edge of a tall viaduct. Luckily, nobody was hurt. Aston Martin to be blown up As we reported a few weeks ago, the crew in Scotland were spotted with James Bond's Aston Martin DB5. Now, a recent report has said that the Aston Martin DB5 might not make it past these scenes as car shell replicas have been rigged with explosives. "Just got back from Hankley Common, security let us go very close. Spoke to one and he said the DB5 has been peeped with explosives." @RichLawes. It is said that this was done on Monday when the rest of the building is blown up. More character name spoilers As we reported a few weeks ago, a call sheet revealed the name of Javier Bardem's character Silva. Now there are reports that other characters were mentioned on the list too. These include Gareth Mallory (rumoured Ralph Fiennes), Kincade (rumoured Albert Finney), Patrice (rumoured Ola Rapace), Doctor Hall, Vanessa (M's Assistant). Raoul, according to the reports, is Silva's first name. Another character's name was revealed as B. This could be Ben Whishaw's character of Q, these call sheets would have been made before the information leaked about what character he was playing which suggests that it was a cover up. Berenice Marlohe and Naomi Harris show their progress so far A couple of days ago, French actress Berenice Marlohe and English actress Naomi Harris showed Bond fans what they have been up to since filming began in November. Naomi Harris' video contains scenes of her practising mainly gun training; shooting from different angles. It gives us an idea of how much action we can expect from the film. Harris' video didn't show us any of the scenes from the film, but Berenice Marlohe's did. In fact, a scene which nobody seemed to pick up on when they were filming in Ascot Racecourse (that doulbed for Shanghai International Airport). Marlohe was seen in character along with two body-guards passing a suitcase to someone on the opposite escalator. (Reports believe that this character is called Patrice) New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS Stunt photographs from Turkey set The stunt chase in Turkey is under way as filming started last week. The Land Rover and damaged VW Beetles were on set. Also, a 17 year old boy managed to sneak into one of the carriages and took a few pictures of the stunt men performing a machette fight (similar to the scene on Octopussy with Bond and Gobinda) SKYFALL's Burning!
Scenes in Scotland came to an end this weekend as the crew set light to SKYFALL-Lodge. From the images in the gallery below, we can see why a replica had to be made, it would have been almost impossible to create this effect with the real thing. This scene marks the films climax and the epic battle between Bond and Silva. The latest clapperboard shows a damaged door to the building. During this scene, a dummy helicopter was used to crash into the burning building. We understand that James Bond caused this to crash. Perhaps Silva was inside? The dummy helicopter was operated by crane. New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. Tower Hill Filming, again Yes, the crew were, yet again, filming at Tower Hill. Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Rory Kinnear were one set last Saturday. the crew then moved to Buckingham Palace and since then they have gone back to Pinewood Studios were sets of a street and town have been constructed. WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS Bond at BAFTAs Tom Jones opened the BAFTAs by performing his song Thunderball. He spoke of the time he was approached to do the song "I was so thrilled when John Barry and Don Black asked me to do 'Thunderball', because Shirley Bassey had just done 'Goldfinger' and Matt Munro had just done 'From Russia With Love'. It was great, especially then, because I was a young man in my 20s. I am glad I did it!" New Bond girls Naomi Harris and Berenice Marlohe attended the event too. Naomi Harris was interviewed about her time on the set. "It's amazing working with Daniel, he's such a hard worker. After shooting he does two hours of training. Incredible and an inspiration to us both." Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes were nominated for awards. Judi Dench was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in "My Week With Marilyn" and Ralph Fiennes was nominated for Outstanding Debut By A Director for his film "Coriolanus". Vauxhall bridge filming As planned, the crew were back in London this week shooting scenes with Judi Dench and Rory Kinnear. The scene appears to be taking place in the back of a Jaguar as M and Tanner drive back to MI6 Headquarters. The car was on a tow trailer with cameras rigged to the front windscreen. The shoot followed over to Sunday where they spent over 4 hours shooting with the road closed. {SPOILER} The action shot on the bridge will be seen at the beginning of the film, when M's car is blocked from getting close to the famous MI6 building by police. M and Tanner watch in horror as an explosion rocks the area. The fireball will be a digital effect, unlike The World Is Not Enough when the production built a large scale replica of the front of the building in order to blow a hole in it. {SPOILER} Stunt at Charing Cross A very impressive stunt took place inside Charing Cross station last week where a camera was used to film inbetween an escalator along the old Jubilee Line which has been closed from the public for a while. This scene is believed to be part of the foot chase sequence, where either Bond or Bardem's character slides down the moving stairs. |
