THE RACE BEGINS IN ROME, AND NEW NAMES ARE ADDED TO CAST

Now that the close-ups for the chase in Rome have been shot, principal photography returns to Pinewood Studios whilst stunt drivers take control of the Aston Martin DB10 and Jaguar C-X75. 

The shots were collected from a speedboat which sped alongside the banks of the Tiber. The stunts were performed at night, with the car headlights providing a beautiful glare. As the race continued into the streets, the vehicles were rigged with cameras on the front of the Aston and rear of the Jag to capture steady footage from the driver's point of view. There are also rumours surrounding an aerial stunt where Bond will leap from a helicopter wearing a parachute... (Union Jack?)

On the casting front, several more actors have been rumoured to be appearing in the movie. One such actor was confirmed last week. German born Detlef Bothe was spotted filming scenes with Ben Whishaw when the crew was back in Austria. 

He explained that his scene took place in a cablecar. Some footage made it into the recent preview clip featuring Sam Mendes. This was confirmed when Bothe posted a picture of himself in Solden with the rest of the crew. Talking about his casting, he said...

"The casting was over two days in Berlin. There were between 60 and 80 people. Each of us had just 20 minutes - and I saw my hope already dwindling. But then a week later I got a call that director Sam Mendes wants to meet me."

Other possible actors include Jennifer Brenner, Bern Collaco and Dominic Zwemmer, although this is still yet to be confirmed.
