SAM MENDES INTERVIEW

After a showing of his latest film 'Paris, Texas', Sam Mendes was briefly interviewed on the current status of Bond 24. 

"The next one, well it's being written. And that's all I can tell you. Otherwise I'd have to kill you. And there's a lot of people to kill in this room. It's ongoing. For me, so much of it is about script. Because that's the building of the boat. Once the boat goes on the current, it's gone. And if there's a hole in the boat, you're fucked. So you have to make sure there's no holes in the boat. That's what we're doing at the moment."

Earlier in the week, Mendes met Prince Edward at an event at Winsor Castle a spoke a little about how proud he was of how Skyfall turned out. 

"We had taken Bond where people aged and were getting old and dying. It had come out of this bubble of timelessness I felt. I thought I would need to say what happened next, in the next year or two. I spent a long time doing movies that defied easy categorisation, but with Bond, it was very clear what was demanded. With Bond you have to know everything Bond has done before. You can't repeat it. You're not going to reinvent the wheel."

And his comments on Bond 24?

"It is a big challenge for me… I am just hammering it [the script] out now. It’s grueling but it’s fun."
