Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has recently expressed enthusiasm in singing the title song for Bond 24. She reached the peak of her career in the 1980's with her #1 hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and has since gone on to write "Faster Than the Speed of Night" and "Holding Out for a Hero" as well as many other memorable hits. In March, the BBC announced that Tyler would represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest. In an interview with Celebs On Sunday, Tyler commented on turning down the chance to perform the title song for 1983's rival Bond film "Never Say Never Again". She then added that she would like the producers to consider her for an official film. "I wish they'd ask me again and give me a good song, I didn't like the song [Never Say Never Again] and it was the only one that never became a hit." James Bond screenwriter John Logan was interviewed by The Telegraph the other day about his latest project. As usual, they managed to get some info about BOND 24.
"[Logan] broke with Bond tradition by whipping up a homoerotic charge between Daniel Craig’s captive 007 and Javier Bardem’s louche rogue agent and also by making the encounter unusually protracted. “When I wrote that scene – two men speaking in a room for 10 pages – I thought 'There’s no way we’re going to be able to do this,’ but Sam Mendes said 'Yes, go for it’ and I think the audience really embraced it.” "He has signed up to script two more films, even though Mendes has stepped aside from the next one, citing other commitments, and promises more where that came from: “There are lots more ideas for Bond I want to explore,” he enthuses. “We can deal in a complex way with these characters.” "It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara's very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie, directing SKYFALL was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond." Bond's next director has yet to be decided, but producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli had nothing but praise for Mendes: "We thoroughly enjoyed working with Sam. He directed our most successful Bond movie ever, SKYFALL. We would have loved to have made the next film with him but completely respect his decision to focus on other projects and hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with him again."
Welsh group The Stererophonics have expressed their enthusiasm towards perfoming the title song to BOND 24. “If we are called to do the Bond tune I’ll be there. I think it would be good.”
The Stereophonics have worked with David Arnold on their latest album. “When we worked with David on the album, the members of the 36-piece orchestra had worked on the soundtrack for every Bond film since Doctor No. It was an incredible experience.” To set rumours to rest, it has been confirmed by Gregg Wilson (Associate Producer) that BOND 24 and BOND 25 will not be shot back-to-back like tabloids believe. Gregg also states that John Logan hasn't produced a draft for the producers yet but has been working on one late last year, which he says is "no where near" the treatment stage for BOND 24. Addidionally, Sam Mendes told the press at the BAFTA's last week that he would return to helm BOND 24 if the producers want him. "I've had a great time, it's been a huge learning curve and we would want to make a better movie next time around, and if we thought we could do that they might let me have another go again." In another interview, the producers made it clear that they really do want him back for the next film. However, a crisis looms and could possibly delay BOND 24 for a further year. Sam Mendes is already committed to produce a musical version of 'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory' which opens on 18th May, whilst John Logan has joined to direct a film called 'King Lear' at the National Theatre which opens in January 2014. The producers have decided to wait for Mendes and Logan to finish their projects before they even think about starting BOND 24. Due to this delay, we could now expect to see BOND 24 hit cinemas in the summer of 2015 (or late 2015 if production is delayed further) It is already confirmed that Daniel Craig will return as James Bond in this film (so long as he doesn't turn it down at the last minute) and will be joined by Ralph Fiennes as 'M', Naomi Harris as 'Miss Moneypenny' and Ben Whishaw as 'Q'. The new MI6 team is contracted to stay until Daniel Craig's departure in BOND 25. However, the producers may decide to keep them for future films.

Activision has lost its licence to thrill. The popular games company no longer hold the licencing rights to create new James Bond video games. Electronic Arts sold the rights to Activision in 2006 and the deal would run through until 2014. Rumours started after James Bond video games were promptly taken off the shelves in the New Year and on the internet.
007 LEGENDS which was released by Activision last year received poor reviews and sales, causing the developer Eurocom to go bankrupt. 007: BLOOD STONE also went down the same track when it was released in 2010 after high expectations. The only truly successful Bond title to come out of Activision was the Goldeneye 007 game for the Wii (and later released as Goldeneye 007 Reloaded for the PS3 and X-Box 360). Since the James Bond films are co-produced by Sony, it wouldn't be surprising if Sony Computer Entertainment took over the rights. Here is a look at some of the 007 titles released by Activision over the years... Craig’s third Bond movie Skyfall is breaking box office records, but the 44-year-old Brit told The Sun he has had enough.
“I’ve been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it. But they won’t let me go, and I’ve agreed to do a couple more. But let’s see how this one does, because business is business and if the s*** goes down, I’ve got a contract that somebody will happily wipe their ass with. As reported last week, screenwriter John Logan will be writing the next two James Bond films. However, Daniel Craig tells the press that the two stories will not be linked and even if they are, they would not be shot back-to-back like the last two Harry Potter films or the last Back To The Future film. “No, I don’t know where that’s come from. It's impossible to do a two parter, I heard that someone was talking about that we’re doing a two parter, but that’s the first I’ve heard about it. We can only do them one at a time, they take six months to shoot. You can’t write one movie thinking about the next. All we’re trying to do is get the next one sorted out and it’ll stand on its own and if I’m able I’ll do another one after that.” Daniel Craig is also trying to get Sam Mendes to direct BOND 24. “If Sam were to do the next one, which would be great, we have set up an awful lot of ideas and we have still got other things to play around with. I love working with him. He allows me to relax and get on with my job.” Apparently, MGM told the press that “Daniel has made it very clear that Sam should direct the next film. He and Sam have been plotting out story ideas but no executive has given them a yes yet.” |
