The Octopussy movie guide is now up. Preview below. Click the link at the bottom of this post to view the whole article.
Octopussy is one of the best films of the Roger Moore era. It boasts a very complex and interesting screenplay filled with exotic characters. Although the plot centres on a megalomaniac, this time the political overtones make hi threat of a nuclear crisis quite plausible and the co-operation between East and West to stop him signifies the end of the Cold War. The film not only features one of Roger Moore's most effective performances as 007, but also presents an impressive and talented cast. The producers wisely keep silly humour to a minimum, although a bit of it does manage to creep in. (Bond gives a Tarzan yell while swinging on a vine, for example.) Ironically, the sequence which could have been mishandled quite easily - Bond trying to disarm a nuclear bomb at a circus while dressed as a clown - is played seriously and generates a good deal of tension. by: Mike (Webmanager) The next Movie guide is up. There is a lot of information in this one. Here is a quick read:
Stung by criticism that Moonraker had strayed too far from the 007 formula, Cubby Broccoli made good on his promise to make For Your Eyes Only a more realistic thriller. He succeeded quite admirably, although the first half of the film is a decidedly mixed bag. The pre-credits sequence is extremely well done, but its impact is largely negated by an over-the-top villain and some very exaggerated jokes. The extended chase sequences in cars and by skis are technically proficient, but so overlong that they appear to be used as padding. The film takes off with the introduction of the viullainous Kristastos and his rival Columbo - two fascinating characters played superbly by Julian Glover and Topol. The pair re-energise the film and ensure that the story becomes far more involving. The film also boasts the directing debut of long-time Bond editor John Glen, who acquits himself admirably with his first of five 007 films. Click here to see the whole article Production is scheduled to begin in late 2011. There has been much debate about the title of the film. Possible titles could be 'The Property of a Lady', 'Risisco', 'The Hildebrand Rarity', or '007 in New York'. These were all names of other James Bond novels written by Ian Fleming. They could make up a title of their own, or use a chapter title from one of the novels too. Producers for 'Quantum of Solace' made the final decision of the name after they had started filming. It has been rumoured that the film will be called 'Red Sky at Night' but, again, this hasn't been confirmed yet.
Daniel Craig has said that this film will not carry on from 'Quantum of Solace' but instead will follow similarly to the older James Bond films. A lot of us fans have found that the newer films weren't as good. Daniel Craig has also announced that he is exited to see Moneypenny and Q in the new film, although these facts have not been confirmed yet. Daniel Craig has a contract with the producers stating that he will portray James Bond for five films (the first two being Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) Rumours say that actress Rachel Weisz will portray the next Bond girl, accompanied by previous Bond girl actress Olga Kurylenko returning as Camille. But, again, this is just gossip from the news and internet forums. Other possible Bond girl actresses include Jennifer Aniston, Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Olivia Wilde, Elisha Cuthbert, and Freida Pinto. by: Mike (webmanager) |
